Streaming Audio Advertising

9 Yards Marketing
Sioux Falls, South Dakota

Put Your Message in Their Ears

People aren't always looking at a screen.

They're driving. Working. Exercising. Mowing the lawn. Making dinner. Listening to music or a podcast.

That's what makes audio advertising different.

Streaming audio advertising lets your business reach people while they're listening to music, podcasts and other audio content — and lets us narrow down who hears your ads and where they hear them.

But there's something important you should know:
Targeting the right people doesn't make a bad ad good.

The message still matters most.

At 9 Yards Marketing, we'll help you figure out what your advertising should actually SAY — then use streaming audio to put that message in front of the right ears.

Radio Advertising... With More Targeting

Traditional radio is still one of my favorite advertising mediums for local businesses. It can reach a lot of people in a market quickly and repeatedly.

Streaming audio gives us another tool.

Instead of buying an entire radio station audience, we can build an audience using things like:
  • Location or ZIP codes
  • Age and demographics
  • Interests and behaviors
  • Music and listening preferences
  • Other audience characteristics
That makes streaming audio especially useful when your best potential customers represent a smaller portion of the overall population.

It's great to add to current radio campaigns...

Or when traditional radio might not be within your budget.

You don't need to reach everyone. You just need enough of the right people to hear a really good message often enough to remember you.

Spotify. Pandora. Podcasts. And More.

Your customers aren't all listening in the same place anymore.

Some listen to traditional AM/FM radio. Others spend hours with streaming music, internet radio and podcasts.

Streaming audio campaigns can place your advertising across a variety of popular audio platforms and publishers, rather than forcing your entire budget into one app.

And just like radio, your commercial plays directly in the audio they're already listening to.

They're not scrolling past it.

They're hearing it.

The Message Comes First

This is where we do things a little differently. I'm not going to start by asking: "Do you want to advertise on Spotify?"

That's backwards.

First, we need to figure out:
  • Who are we trying to reach?
  • What do those people actually care about?
  • Why should they choose you instead of someone else?
  • What could we say that would make them remember you?

Then we'll worry about where the ad should run.

Because a perfectly targeted advertising campaign carrying a forgettable message is still a perfectly targeted waste of money.

Streaming Audio + Radio Can Be Even Better

It doesn't necessarily have to be one or the other.

For many local businesses, I like streaming audio as a supplement to strong traditional radio advertising.

Radio can give us broad reach and repetition throughout the market.

Streaming audio can help us add additional frequency or reach specific groups of people we especially want to influence.

And because we're developing the strategy and creative together, the message remains consistent wherever people hear it.

Same business.
Same personality.
Same reason to choose you.

Just another place for people to hear it.

What Does Streaming Audio Advertising Cost?

You don't need a massive national advertising budget to use streaming audio.

Campaigns can be built around your market, your audience and your available budget.

But I'll tell you the same thing here that I tell clients about radio:

I'd rather reach a smaller group of people enough times to matter than reach a gigantic group once and pretend we accomplished something.

Impressions look nice on a report.

Being remembered is better.

Interested? Let's Figure Out If It Makes Sense.

Streaming audio isn't automatically the right answer for every business.

Neither is radio.

Neither is Google.

Neither is anything else.

The goal isn't to sell you an advertising product.

The goal is to figure out the smartest way to use your advertising budget to grow your business.

Tell me what you're trying to accomplish, who you're trying to reach and approximately what you're comfortable spending.

We'll go from there.
