The numbers look impressive.
Wonderful. Is the business up? Marketing dashboards are very good at showing activity. They’re not always good at showing whether that activity mattered. A video view isn’t a customer. A click isn’t a sale. And thousands of impressions don’t mean anyone noticed, remembered or cared. The numbers may be technically accurate. The lie is pretending they prove your marketing is working. Good reporting should connect marketing activity to something the business actually needs: more qualified calls, better leads, increased sales, stronger customer retention—or measurable progress toward becoming the first business people think of. Not every valuable result happens immediately, and not everything can be perfectly tracked. But that shouldn’t become an excuse to bury weak marketing beneath a pile of impressive-looking statistics. Your dashboard should help answer a simple question: Is this moving the business forward? If nobody can answer that without showing you another chart, you may be measuring everything except what matters. 9 Yards Marketing
